Glow in the Dark Book

 (source)

Sawa Tanaka has come up with an amazing concept for this book about nocturnal animals!

If more books glowed in the dark, there would be less need for reading lights. Someone should get on that.

"Jersey Shore" Gone Wilde

I've never been able to sit through an entire episode of Jersey Shore for obvious reasons. But Playbill.com's version of Jersey Shore is definitely more entertaining. The cast of The Importance of Being Earnest performs lines from the MTV reality show in the style of Oscar Wilde. Enjoy the video below!

(Not really safe for work).

Book Haul

The results of a weekend spent browsing the local soon-to-be-out-of-business Borders bookstores. But I'm far from being considered a book hoarder; my collection is in the ballpark of a mere 150 books.

eReader Covers by Out of Print

Out of Print, known for their literary t-shirts, recently added eReader covers to their shop. The jackets are made of cotton canvas and are available for the Kindle (2 & 3), iPad (1& 2), and Nook. Prices range from $40-$50.

If I didn't already have a cover for my kindle, I'd definitely be buying one! The covers look like real books, and I wonder if they smell like books, too. Check out all their selections. The other covers at M-Edge are pretty awesome, too (love this panda one).

The website provides over 1000 books to choose from, including all the usual classics as well as foreign literature and book samples. All you have to do is pick a book (or books) and customize the settings to when and how often you want to receive the installments. Currently, I'm getting installments of Grammar Devotional by Mignon Fogarty via email.

The Dangers of Letting People Borrow Your Books

I was sorting through my books to donate and came across this Kurt Vonnegut book. I lent it to my sister, and she returned it waterlogged.  Sigh.

Oh, the horror!

New Year, New Planner

For 18 months, I've been using the Moleskine weekly planner (before that, I used a Little Otsu Planner [and before that, I had a Slingshot]). For 2011, I'll be using the MMMG Draw Your Tomorrow planner purchased from the Hach. I've been searching everywhere for this exact planner, and I'm so glad I was able to find one that shipped to the U.S. at a reasonable price. The clean and minimalistic design of this planner is exactly what I've been after (and it's spiral bound!).

The Moleskine got pretty bulky with all the notes I stuffed in it.
Even though there are plenty of PDAs and calendar apps, I still prefer writing things down in a planner.
